University: 1st Class Honours Degree in Business at the University of the West of England

Mortgage Experience: Darren started in the mortgage industry in 2007, so he has a wealth of experience within financial services. He started out advising with L&C Mortgages and then progressed to senior management within the organisation. In 2015 he decided to go back to an advising role to return to what he loved best.  

Mortgage Awards: Darren has been shortlisted twice since 2015 for the British Mortgage Awards, for the First Time Buyer and New Build Categories.  

Specialist knowledge: Darren has specialised in new build and help to buy lending in recent years, but given his extensive knowledge of the market, he gives top quality advice on all aspects of the mortgage market.  He has consistently dealt with a diverse range of clients and prides himself on problem solving ability as well as speed of service.  The majority of his clients come from referrals – demonstrating that existing customers highly value Darren’s service, by recommending friends and family.

Hobbies: Golf, Tennis and following Manchester United. 

Mortgage Experience: Neil started his career as a mortgage broker in 2006, spending his early years with Countrywide and John Charcol, before moving onto London & Country for 12 years. During this period, he has gained vast experience in dealing with all types of mortgage transactions as well as achieving the highest competency standards. He considers himself to be a mortgage all rounder with no challenge being too much for him.   

Mortgage Awards: Neil was voted as the best broker for overall quality during his time at London & Country. This award reflects his key attributes of being diligent, meticulous and efficient.

Specialist knowledge: Neil is experienced in all aspects of mortgage advice, however, he considers his specialist area to be within the self employed sector. This ranges from knowing which lenders are best placed to use a contractor’s day rate as opposed to Limited Company accounts, to knowing which lenders will use net profit and salary instead of Director’s salary and dividends, which often results in increased borrowing capacity. There is often the misconception that being self employed makes it difficult to obtain a mortgage – Neil dispels this myth!

Hobbies: Football, beer gardens and being a devoted father to Millie.

University: 2:1 Degree in Law at Cardiff University. 

Mortgage Experience: Ben started his career in the mortgage industry in 2009, joining London and Country Mortgages, quickly establishing himself as one of the best advisers in the company.  

Mortgage Awards: Whilst at London and Country, Ben was awarded as the best Overall Adviser of the year on 3 separate occasions. He also went on to win national recognition by being nominated for awards at the annual British Mortgage Awards over the course of 3 separate years too. There, Ben went on to win the coveted title of specialist  ‘First Time Buyer Broker of the year’ in 2013, and then followed this up with the biggest and best award possible in the mortgage broker industry of  ‘Best Overall Mortgage Broker of the Year’ in 2016.  

Specialist knowledge: Ben has almost 12 years experience in the mortgage industry, dealing with all types of mortgages, varying in size and complexity. He has a vast knowledge in all areas of mortgage advice and is not a specialist in one field, but an expert in all. Whatever your mortgage need, Ben can provide expert advice for your circumstances and tailor a mortgage product to suit your needs. He prides himself on his knowledge of the market, customer service and speed of service. 

Hobbies: Ben likes the gym, all sports, particularly football and rugby, and he has a season ticket at Bath Rugby.

Certifications: CeMAP, FPC 

University: 1st Class Honours Degree in Economics & Politics at the University of Bath.

Mortgage Experience: Michael is a senior leader with over 20 years’ experience within the Mortgage and Protection industry, most of this time spent with L&C, the UK’s largest independent mortgage broker.

Here he helped to grow the business from a small team to a highly profitable business. During his time at L&C, Michael held various senior roles, guiding strategy and innovation and ultimately heading up the sales team, achieving impressive growth in market share. He was also responsible for establishing the protection department within the company, taking protection sales from low single digits to 50% of business revenue and becoming an award-winning market leader.

Mortgage Awards: Michael has been fortunate enough to have been recognised and awarded on several occasions throughout his career, both internally by his colleagues and externally by both the Mortgage and Protection industries. His awards range from ‘Innovation Advocate 2018’ at the British Mortgages Awards to ‘Outstanding Contribution’, ‘The happiest person in the office’ and ‘The best adviser of all time’ as voted for by his former colleagues.

Specialist knowledge: Innovation, Sales, Fintech, Proptech, Insurtech, Strategy, Digital strategy, Online propositions, Business efficiency, Robotic Process Automation.

Hobbies: Michael is father to 4 young boys so outside of work he can be found organising his children’s social lives and supporting their various hobbies.
